The Bongo Club is more of a multimedia experience then a nightclub but its an experience that you will never forget.
Bongo is a mild-mannered eatery by day but a wild and woolly powerhouse of a club by night that caters to anybody who loves music, live theatre, film and entertainment in general. The club has been around since 1996 and specialises in underground music, which is both performed by fabulous live bands and mixed by some of the most eclectic DJs in town. Bongo is also an integral part of the Edinburgh Fringe Festival and its program includes stand up comedy, one man shows, children’s theatre and cabarets.
When it’s not festival season, Bongo offers its usual off-the-wall themed evenings like their Xplicit, Devil Disco and Headspin series. Mumbo Jumbo, Four Corners and Big N Bashy are also club nights not to be missed. The Bongo Club Cafe is also open every weekday afternoon and offers simple meals in a fascinating setting. International artists are encouraged to exhibit their works in the cafe, which also offers its guests free internet and wi-fi access.
Further services offered by The Bongo Club include venue hire and dance classes. Both the Bongo club space and the Bongo cafe – and their two bars – are available for hire and are suitable for all types of functions. Performers looking to hire the venue should know that it suits any act from local to international and that there is also rehearsal space available during the day. There is also a downloadable club floor-plan and “tech-spec” list on the club’s website to help new performers check whether Bongo is the right club for them. Dance classes include such freaky happenings as “Zumba Fitness with Katy”.
