The Citrus Nightclub on Grindlay Street is the perfect place for both students and nostalgic older folk to spend a casual and fun-filled fabulous night out.
Specialising in an indie rock vibe that suits tshirts and jeans rather than short skirts and pumps, The Citrus offers superb club nights that feature 60s through 80s music, new wave and punk and their resident DJs also take requests. Fridays will see patrons rock out to Planet Earth nights, which features music from 1976 through the 1990s and which is a punk, electro-pop, new wave and new romantic extravaganza. Saturday nights get hot with the retro-classic Tease Age with DJ Monkee Mickee, which revels in offering music dating all the way back to the swinging sixties. Sunday nights are known for their raucous Tropical Storm events, where DJs play the best in dancehall and dubstep as well as roots and reggae. And then there are their Kinky Indie nights on Tuesdays: indie music has never sounded this good.
Citrus also presents interesting and eclectic live acts for their guests’ enjoyment and Friday nights feature their famous free drinks and free curly wurlys. Artists previously featured at the club range from ska greats and reggae legends to live rock and punk bands and include Penetration, Vice Squad, Sad Society and TV21. The club also offers special events like the combined Tease Age / Planet Earth Hogmanay party.
The Citrus Nightclub has a capacity of around 400 and has an extremely loyal following as it has been around since the early 1990s. A wide range of drinks promotions are offered every night and this, along with the amazing music, always seems to attract new guests. The club sports a fully stocked bar and a dance floor and also offers catered parties for up to 400 guests.
